Where Handmade Meets the Unconventional

Welcome to StitchinVirago—a space where crochet isn’t just a craft, but an art form infused with elegance, vintage influences, and a rebellious spirit.

I’m Jess, the hands and heart behind every stitch. Crochet has been more than just a hobby for me—it’s been a way to express creativity, weave stories, and embrace the beautifully unconventional.

My Journey

I first picked up a crochet hook in 2010 and instantly fell in love with the process—each loop, knot, and weave felt like second nature. What started as a simple creative outlet quickly turned into an obsession, leading me to experiment with textures, patterns, and intricate details that reflect my personal aesthetic: dark, elegant, and unapologetically unique.

Over time, StitchinVirago was born—a brand that celebrates those who find beauty in the unconventional. Whether it’s delicate lacework, bold statement pieces, or functional art with a twist, every piece I create is meant to be cherished, worn, and admired.

Behind the Name

The name Virago has deep roots in history—it describes a fierce, unapologetic woman who defies expectations. I chose this name because my art is a reflection of that same bold spirit. Crochet is often seen as soft and delicate, but I believe it can also be powerful, edgy, and rebellious. My goal is to break the mold and show that handcrafted pieces can be both intricate and daring.

In 2018, I got my motorcycle license, a life-long dream of mine. Shortly after, I got my own motorcycle, a 1996 Yamaha Virago XV750. When it was time to rebrand my business in 2021, a few friends were helping me brainstorm some new names. Thus, Stitchin’ Virago was born.
